Watch: Armed brawl breaks out on London street

An armed brawl has broken out on a London street, as scores of horrified onlookers watched from the sidelines.

Footage captured by a spectator shows the driver of a white vehicle – which looks to be a BMW – veering dangerously close to at least two men, dodging out of the motorist’s path.

A man in a camouflage hoodie appears to duck and dive out of the way in scenes filmed in front of a crowd of pedestrians on Edgware Road.

The man, joined by another in a white jacket, can then be seen lunging at the motorist through the driver’s window, as the car comes to a halt.

People can be heard screaming and shouting “call the police”.

The driver then runs to open the boot of the car retrieving a long weapon before swinging it at the man in the hoodie.

Passersby try, unsuccessfully, to intervene but are shoved back.

Witnesses can be seen filming the whole attack on their phones.

A 55-second long clip of the incident was uploaded onto social media at around 11pm on Saturday evening.

A spokesman for Metropolitan Police said: “We are aware of social media footage of an incident in Edgware Road, W2, at approximately 19.15hrs on Saturday, 20 April.

“It was reported a car was driven towards a man, before an occupant of the car then got out of the vehicle and attempted to assault the man with a metal bat.

“The suspect vehicle and victim had left the scene before police arrived.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved.”
