A man has been charged with the murder of a woman killed in a home in south-east London.

The Metropolitan police named the woman as Zhe Wang, 31.

An investigation was launched after police were called to reports of a stabbing at a property in Manor Park, Hither Green, at about 11.15pm on 20 March.

Emergency services forced entry to the address, where they found Wang injured inside. She died at the scene shortly after.

Joshua Michals, 24, of Lewisham, was charged with her murder on 22 March. He appeared in custody at Bromley magistrates court on 23 March and at the Old Bailey on 26 March.

Police believe the defendant and victim knew each other.

Wang, a Chinese national, was studying in London, police said. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

Michals, a US national living in Deptford, is next due at the Old Bailey in June. A trial date has been set for January 2025.
