The US President said he did not oppose “peaceful protest”, but criticised activists who destroyed university property, intimidated Jewish students, and forced the cancellation of lessons. Meanwhile, protesters appealed for helmets, goggles and zip ties – but no bagels or coffee – in a standoff with police.
Bus leaves Peckham without migrants after protesters disrupt removal
A coach set to move asylum seekers from a hotel to the Bibby Stockholm barge has driven off without any migrants onboard after protesters disrupted their removal. Dozens of people wearing Covid face masks surrounded the vehicle and slashed its tyres to stop the migrants from being removed from the hotel.
Kate Forbes pulls out of SNP leadership race
Ms Forbes issued a statement this afternoon in which she said John Swinney, who formally launched his leadership bid in Edinburgh this morning, would have her endorsement and support. Nominations in the SNP leadership contest will close at midday on Monday.
