Have your say: What do you think of Harry and Meghan's name for their second child?

The Queen has said she is "delighted" after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the arrival of their second child, who is named after the monarch.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed baby daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor into the world on Friday.

She was born in Santa Barbara, California, where the couple moved with their first child Archie, having stepped down from royal duties.

Lilibet was the Queen's nickname when she was a child, given to her by her grandfather King George V because the then-Princess Elizabeth could not pronounce her own name properly as a toddler.

Lilibet, who is eighth in line to the throne, takes her middle name from Harry's mother.

In a statement on the Sussexes’ website, Archewell, they said: "On 4 June, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili.

"She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe.

"Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

The couple have asked those wishing to send a gift to instead support women's groups.

Buckingham Palace said: “The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been informed and are delighted with the news of the birth of a daughter for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall tweeted: "Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of baby Lilibet Diana. Wishing them all well at this special time."

Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge said: "We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili."

The couple were also congratulated by Boris Johnson and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer.
