Teenager stabbed to death in broad daylight on bank holiday in London park

A teenager was stabbed to death on bank holiday Monday in a London park in broad daylight.

The 18-year-old man was found with a stab injury following reports of a group of males fighting in north London.

He was treated by London’s Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service at the scene in Montrose Park, Colindale, but was later pronounced dead.

Seven males have been arrested on suspicion of offences including affray and attempted murder and are in police custody.

The incident took place while the park was packed with people enjoying the hottest day of the year so far.

The Metropolitan Police said officers were called at 5.54pm on Monday to the park and air ambulance staff arrived at the scene.

The teenager who was stabbed was found in a tennis court area.

He was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at 7.19pm, the force said.

Police are working to inform his next of kin, while formal identification and a post-mortem examination will follow.

Footage posted on social media showed an air ambulance helicopter landing in the park on Monday.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Officers responded and found an 18-year-old male suffering from a stab injury in a tennis court area.

“He was treated by London's Air Ambulance and London Ambulance Service at the scene. Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at 19:19hrs.

“Seven males have been arrested in connection with the incident on suspicion of offences including affray and attempted murder. They are all in police custody.

“Officers are working to determine whether there any further reported injuries.”
