Superyacht smashes through dock

A 250-foot luxury yacht crashed through a dock at Simpson Bay, Sint Maarten, after a computer malfunction on board caused it to lose its steering, according to local media.

The £65m turquoise-hulled vessel is owned by Capri Sun juice tycoon Hans Peter Wild - who is valued at £2bn, according to Forbes, but it is not yet clear whether he was on board at the time.

The yacht was trying to leave its berth at Ile de Sol Marina shortly after 10am when it began moving toward a wooden dock at Sint Maarten Yacht Club, the Daily Herald reported.

The Sint Maarten Yacht Club said the crew had "lost control over the vessel and hit the dock".

No one was injured but the dock sustained "significant" damage, they said.
