Where the Wimbledon stars holiday
  • Samantha Stosur can often be found on her Brisbane practice court, ready to challenge the top players.  Brisbane is the capital of the Queensland state and boasts fascinating history and vibrant nightlife. You can’t leave Brisbane without seeing a Koala and the Lone Pine Sanctuary is the best place to spot one.  If you’re looking to shop like a pro then make your way to the Queen Street Mall to find an excellent array of designer boutiques as well as high street brands. In the evening you'll find cosmopolitan bars and, for a great night out, head to the Elixir Rooftop Bar, which offers a fantastic view of the city by night.

  • The Williams sisters’ own a stunning property in Palm Beach, Florida. Although Venus is out of Wimbledon, there are high hopes for Serena winning again this year. Palm Beach has tons of exclusive tennis and golf hotels. More of a shopaholic? Go wild at one of the twelve shopping districts like CityPlace. If you fancy a few rollercoaster thrills, head up the coast to Orlando where Disney World and Universal Studios await your arrival.  Check out the hotels available in Palm Beach, Florida.

  • Baghdatis has travelled the world with his tennis talent but always returns to his birth town of Limassol. Set in the south of Cyprus, it boasts the island’s longest coastline and hosts an annual wine festival in August. The small island boasts several attractions, including Aphrodite’s rock in Paphos. Legend has it that if you swim around it three times, you gain eternal beauty. If you want to celebrate or commiserate match results, head to party central Ayia Napa where you can stay up dancing and watch the sunset. It turns out Cyprus loves Baghdatis as much as he loves the island; he was their “Man of the Year“ in 2005. See Cyprus holidays here.

  • Andy Murray has made no secret of his love for Scotland. He bought this grand Victorian manor, Cromalix House, earlier this year for £1.8million, and is believed to be converting it into a rambling bolthole surrounded by 50 acres of countryside. If you fancy staying in it yourself, you'll have to wait until September next year, when the tennis ace hopes to open it up to residents...
  • After his first round defeat, Rafa might want to get back to Majorca ASAP. No doubt the excellent sunshine, great beaches and warm waters on this Balearic island will ease the pain of crashing out of Wimbledon. The fishing village of Porto Cristo is just 15 minutes from Nadal’s hometown, Manacor.  This quiet resort is famous for its scenery and the Cuevas Del Cristo caves. For a little more action, head to the capital city of Palma, where you can admire stunning architecture like La Seu Cathedral before catching some Spanish rays on the Playa de Palma beach.  Click here to find hotels in Majorca.

  • Although originally from Belarus, the former world number one lives in glamorous Monte Carlo. With excellent weather and a wonderfully laidback atmosphere, Monte Carlo is ideal for those after a relaxing getaway. The average temperature is around 24C during the summer months and the sea breeze keeps humidity to a minimum.  After a morning on the Larvotto Beach, head to the harbour where you’ll find some great cafes to sit at while you watch the lavish yachts sail in.  In the evening the famous Monte Carlo Casino is the perfect place for a quick flutter.

  • As Federer sets his sights on an eighth Wimbledon title, don’t expect to find him in Basel in the next two weeks. With mild summer temperatures of 25C, Basel is an ideal city break, offering a blend of Swiss, French and German cultures. Take in the stunning architecture as you travel up the river Rhine on a boat tour, or pay a visit to the 16th Century City Hall.  If you’re desperate to catch a glimpse of Roger Federer then make your way to Basel for the 21st October when the Swiss Indoors tennis tournament takes place, with the Wimbledon champion set to enter.
