Half Moon, the luxury resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica celebrates its diamond (60th) anniversary this year and it is giving guests the chance to join in the celebrations by winning treats ranging from real diamonds to private dinners and all-inclusive stays. The resort opened on 27 February, 1954 and the Open Me promotion will run on the 27th day of each month. And travellers who book a five-night stay to include the 27th day of any particular month will pay only $60 (£35) per room, for the night of the 27th. Half Moon is also opening three luxurious cottages this year, with drawing rooms (one with a grand piano), sitting rooms, courtyards, private swimming pools and gardens. Prices start from $5,204 (£3,160) per night on a room only basis, based on Cottage 4 which sleeps 12.
The Top Gear Festival will make its American debut on the Caribbean island of Barbados at the newly renovated Bushy Park Circuit on 17-18 May, 2014. Hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, and of course The Stig and the Top Gear Stunt Team, there will be guest drivers from the world of motorsport and entertainment. The festival will include high-speed motor stunts, extreme driving and races. Bushy Park is a short drive from the island’s capital Bridgetown and from the international airport.

True Blue Bay has opened a yoga studio and fitness centre and re-launched its spa. Guests can enjoy complimentary yoga sessions being cooled by sea breezes and with views down to the sea. Getting to St Lucia is now even easier with 13 direct flights a week from the UK. Daily flights are available with British Airways and five weekly flights from Virgin Atlantic, both flying from London Gatwick. Thomas Cook’s scheduled airline has launched a new weekly direct flight, leaving Manchester in the afternoons. Biras Creek, the boutique resort set in 140 acres on Virgin Gorda, BVI, has undergone extensive refurbishment. All 31 suites at the resort have been upgraded. Only accessible by boat or helicopter, the resort has invested in a new boat to transport guests to and from Tortola. In 2012, Biras Creek purchased new Boston Whaler boats, for guests to use to explore nearby beaches and islands, and new bikes for guests to get around the resort.
