Ten of the best: Celebrity spas
  • Tucked away in the 5-star and fabulous Baglioni Hotel – a boutique retreat in London's upscale Kensington – sits the Rejuvenation Baglioni, a little slice of spa heaven. Christina Aguilera often pops in when she's in London, making the most of the treatments, which range from hot stone massages to Jessica manicures and pedicures.
  • Nestled in 170 acres of prime Hertfordshire countryside, Champneys Tring has been a celebrity favourite since it first opened in 1925. Take a stroll in the stately home's manicured gardens, before enjoying a splash in the 25-metre pool. Steeped in history and majestically beautiful, it's no surprise everyone from Victoria Beckham to Kate Moss and even the England football team have paid a visit.
  • Oozing a decadent Oriental vibe, the Royal Day Spa is Tunbridge Wells' most fabulous pamper destination, attracting TV stars like Katie Price and Gok Wan. It's down-to-earth yet modern, and specialises in holistic organic therapies.
  • Take a dip in the pool where Kylie and Robbie Williams filmed the Kids video. Yes, really. This pamper-perfect hotspot is Northern Ireland's premiere spa destination, and shouldn't be visited without experiencing the can't-be-missed Rasul, a traditional Moroccan ritual in which steam is combined with scented clays and mud leaving you stress-free, followed by a cleansing, invigorating rain shower. Bliss.
  • Frequently hitting Top Ten British Spa lists, Stoke Park is the ultimate in luxury, elegance and sophistication. Set in 350 acres of historic Buckinghamshire parkland, the estate offers the finest in sporting and leisure facilities, and it can barely keep the celebs at bay, with Hugh Grant, Tess Daly, Claudia Schiffer and Renee Zellweger hammering down its grandiose doors.
  • Loved by celebrities worldwide, Elemis products take a front row seat on many stars' dressing tables. And the beauty house's central London retreat is, likewise, a beauty mecca for the great and the groomed. Treat yourself to Sienna Miller's favourite, the Visible Brilliance Facial, whilst spotting celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, Natalie Imbruglia and Zoë Ball in the relaxing room.
  • When she's in NY, Victoria Beckham keeps her skin in gleamingly good condition at the Shizuka New York Day Spa, where she indulges in the now-legendary Geisha 'Bird Poop' Facial, which brightens and softens the skin with powdered nightingale droppings. Sounds unpleasant, but is apparently miracle-working. This oasis of relaxation is tucked away in Midtown Manhattan, right near the Rockefeller Center, so it's a perfect spot for sightseeing after your poop-pampering is done!
  • Anne Hathaway's staring at chipped nail varnish and dry cuticles: where does she head? LA's Recess Nail Spa. The Alice in Wonderland star gets manicured and pedicured to perfection here, and her top treatment is The Musk Try, a hand and foot fave that includes a lavender paraffin wrap and Indian spice moisturiser massage. Divine.
  • Lauren Conrad likes to indulge at the Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa in Dallas, set in the fashionable Texas district of Uptown. The décor is dripping in meticulously preserved 20s Art Deco glamour, while seven private treatment rooms are waiting to transport relaxation heaven in the state-of-the-art spa. Lauren's favourite treatment? A sleep-inducing 45-minute Focused Warm-Oil massage with scalp treatment, a body and head rubdown.
  • The Dorchester Spa at the upscale London hotel recently had a 30s-style £3.2 million makeover (think chrome doorways and a chandelier made from 75,000 South Pacific pearls.) There's nine sumptuous soundproof treatment rooms, including a mani and pedi suite and a hairdressing salon. Treatments include the full range of face and body fare, and you can choose from four 'expert partners', including facials by guru Vaishaly, loved by Elle Macpherson and Sophie Dahl. But our favourite bit? The 'Spatisserie', where you can nibble on scrummy pastries and cakes and sip on pink fizz.
