Star-worthy hotspots in Sardinia

  • For the A List, it has to be Hotel Cala di Volpe. The Cala di Volpe is a world-renowned five star hotel designed to replicate a fishing village washed with colour towers and irregular roofs. It's set around its own private port and jetty jutting out into the beautiful bay of Cala di Volpe, in the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Recent guests include Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch, Geri Halliwell, Jamie and Louise Redknapp, and Heidi Klum and Seal. But get the credit cards at the ready - prices from £2527pppw! • Every star worth their caviar heads to Il Pescatore in the heart of Porto Cervo, located at the five-star Cervo Hotel. With an idyllic position down on the water's edge, it serves up savoury seafood specialties with magnificent views of the luxury yachts and glittering village above. Visit justsardinia.co.uk

  • Can be found in the Costa Smeralda 'The Emerald Coast', a name inspired by the azure colour of its sea. With Porto Cervo at its centre, the coastline stretches 55km (34 miles) with more than 80 bays, rocky coves and sandy beaches such as the famous Capriccioli Beach, the Spiaggia di Principe and Baia Sardinia. The Costa Smeralda won a World Travel Award for Europe's Leading Beach in 2007 and 2008 as voted by travel agents worldwide.

  • Massages don't come more must-have than at the enchanting Hotel Capo d’Orso Thalasso & Spa, set in a private park with views to the Costa Smeralda.  L’Incantu is a fabulous spa and Thalasso centre with open-air hot and cold seawater spa pools, Turkish bath, and health and beauty cabins for  treatments. • The top haunt - for star-spotting at least - is situated in the Hotel Romazzino, where many A-listers go for lunch after mooring their super yachts in the bay! Romazzino Beach Bar is located next to Ristorante Barbecue in Spiaggia. The Beach Bar is just a few steps from the sparkling sea, and a casual and relaxing place to soak up views over the turquoise bay.  It's also a fabulous front row seat for the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup every September. • Porto Cervo Village, baby! Have a Pretty Woman moment with a host of designer boutiques (including Armani, Gucci, Prada and Versace to name but a few), jewellers (only to be found in London, Paris, New York and Porto Cervo!) and elegant restaurants set around the Piazzetta with wonderful views to enjoy a drink and watch the world go by. Rihanna has been snapped here piled high with Prada and Gucci bags.

  • Superyacht spotting! Rent a rib (approx 150 euros per day) or a larger motorboat from Marinasarda Motor Boat Cruiser Hire (prices from £2161 per day for up to 11 people plus a skipper). The best way to appreciate the beauty of the Costa Smeralda and the Sardinian islands is from the sea. Just Sardinia can pre-book a choice of motor boats, with or without a skipper for a day or longer, to cruise the emerald waters, explore the coastline and outlying islands and find your own private cove to swim and sunbathe.

  • Hotel Pitrizza offers an ultra-exclusive and romantic setting, with secluded villa-style guest rooms and suites, overlooking the immaculate gardens and infinity pool, surrounded by the sparkling emerald sea in the heart of the Costa Smeralda. Visit justsardinia.co.uk

  • Hotel Romazzino is ideal for families with a Toy Club for children open from 10am  to 11pm, especially for three to 11-year-olds with supervised activities and entertainments.  There is a dedicated dining area in the restaurant serving a children’s menu for lunch and dinner.  There are lush green lawns, a large seawater swimming pool, playground and easy access to the gently shelving beach. • The list of celebs that flock to Flavio Briatore's Billionaire Club is as big as his bank balance: from Leonardo DiCaprio, Phillip Green, and Naomi Campbell (all pictured),  to Frank Lampard, Kate Moss and even Anne Hathaway. Tucked away on the hillside on the road from Porto Cervo to Cala di Volpe, in the cliffs above the Gulf of Pevero, it's not easy to find (if you get stuck, just follow the stream of stars). Billionaire is the hottest nightlife venue in Costa Smerelda known for its all-night dancing and home to the Cipriani restaurant.  For most of the year this three-story villa of thatched roofs and arid landscaping looks like an abandoned shack, but the club comes alive from July to September as the hottest social venue in all of Italy. In the early evening during high season, the club is dominated by its two top eateries located along the main floor pool terrace and rooftop dining room. By midnight, the club begins to attract bumper-to-bumper Ferraris and Bugatis to its front door with an influx of bronzed locals strutting their best Cavalli and Dior.
