Dream holiday of the day: The Amari Palm Reef Koh Samui, Thailand
  • Koh Samui airport is beautiful! It feels more like a resort, so by the time you reach the hotel you’re already in holiday mode. At the hotel, staff are wonderfully friendly, and you are greeted by a lovely open plan reception in front of the impressive pool area. With the view of the beach behind this, you know you’re in for a relaxing stay.

  • All rooms are designed in traditional Thai style and have their own entrances up steps, so it feels like you’re in your own little world, rather than a hotel corridor. All accommodations are large and stylish, but try the Junior Suites’ for the most luxurious stay. The bathrooms are particularly impressive! The quietest rooms are the ones near the hotel gardens, and you’re never more than a short walk from the nearest pool.

  • Visit The Starz Cabaret show in the town. All good clean, family fun, see ‘Madonna’ and ‘Britney Spears’ all in one evening...and if you’re lucky/unlucky a member of your group may get pulled up on stage! Ask the hotel staff for directions to the show.

  • ...looking to relax and unwind. With the sandy beach on your doorstep it’s a great place for a romantic break, but that said, there’s enough to do in and around the hotel for a fun filled family holiday. Though the hotel itself is very laid back and relaxed, it’s just a short walk into Chaweng where there are plenty of bars, perfect for an evening cocktail or two.

  • One answer – Prego restaurant! Popular all over the island, Prego is a trendy Italian restaurant situated just outside the hotel. Chef Marco knocks up authentic and delicious Italian dishes in an open, balmy setting. The pastas are particularly good! Make sure to book a table though, it does get busy! For traditional Thai fare you’re spoilt for choice, although the Merante restaurant right next to the pool is a good place to start.

  • You have to try the Breeze spa. We tried a fabulous ‘Calm’ massage; you will literally float off to sleep, so beware of arranging dinner for straight after as we did! Rates start from approximately £60 per night, depending on availability and season, for more information visit amari.com/palmreef
