The best time for discreet celeb spotting is in the summer when you can spend time in the local pubs, like The Lansdowne, without having to hide behind your umbrella!

The Scottish town of St Andrews is filled with celebrities in October when The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship takes place, attracting the biggest golf fans. The event sees the stars paired with pro golfers to compete in the annual tournament. The likes of Hugh Grant, Huey Lewis and Michael Douglas have taken part and quite often the celebs turn up at student parties while they're in town. The town is well-known for St Andrews University too, which was attended by Prince William and Kate, plus actor Dougray Scott was born in St Andrews and returns when he needs a break from Hollywood!

Pretty Cotswold village Kingham in Oxfordshire was once named England's favourite village and its traditional tranquillity with modern vibrancy has attracted Blur guitarist-turned-cheese maker Alex James, who lives here. The unspoilt village has two hotels, a shop and The Plough pub, where you're likely to bump into Mr James. Kate Moss and Elizabeth Hurley have homes in nearby Cotswold villages too.
The rich and famous love this tiny north Cornwall resort town with its suburban charm. You won't find cobbled streets or tea shops in Rock, but it does have a glorious beach with miles of white sand, a pub and a sailing school. So who comes here, you ask? It's only a haunt for such folk as Princes William and Harry, Jemima Khan, Hugh Grant, Jay Kay and Harry Enfield! David and Samantha Cameron have been here on holiday too.

And for partying Oasis-style, King Tut's Wah Wah Hut is the home of indie, where the band was discovered - a good place to spot the next up and coming acts.
The quiet island of Anglesey in North Wales is home to Prince William and Kate, who love the place so much they chose to start married life in their five-bedroom cottage rather than at a royal residence in London. The royals are often seen out and about with William a fan of The White Eagle pub, where he is said to attend pub quizzes with his RAF chums stationed just up the road. The couple have also been spied shopping in Waitrose in Beaumaris and walking in Newborough Forest. Other celebrities who are rumoured to escape to the picturesque island include Madonna and John Travolta.
