  • Arguably the most famous ski resort in the world, Aspen has entertained all walks of celebrity, from presidents to movie stars alike.

    Not just a ski destination, Aspen is also an exclusive shopping haven, with Dior, Prada, Gucci and Louis Vuitton quenching the fashion thirst of visitors like Victoria Beckham, Catherine Zeta Jones and Jennifer Aniston.

    Other big names to have been spotted at this celebrity ski hub include Will Smith, Kate Moss, Johnny Depp, and Mel Gibson.
  • With seven miles of mountain front and 300 days of sunshine, it's no wonder stars like Justin Timberlake are heading to Aspen's main rival, Vail in Colorado.

    It's Adventure Ridge �� a snow park the size of a football stadium on top of a mountain – is a fun-packed place offering tubing, ski biking, snow mobiles and bungee trampolining, as well as a bistro where you can sip on cocoa while watching the sunset over the snow-topped peaks.
  • Fancy sashaying past royalty on the ski slopes? Prince Charles is a regular guest to this Swiss mountain resort, and even Prince William and Kate Middleton have been photographed enjoying the snow here.

    With its authentic village feel, Klosters is a beautiful, romantic destination, which offers horse-drawn sleigh rides, toboggan runs and snow-shoe trekking on top of its ski facilities.
  • Jackson Hole is being dubbed 'the new Aspen' with its list of stars buying property in the area growing all the time. Uma Thurman and Harrison Ford have both snapped up accommodation here, and the dramatic vista – and, of course, excellent skiing – are good reasons why.

    The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is the ski area, while the town of Jackson is just a short bus ride away for post-slope supper.

    The list of stars spotted here is endless, and includes Tiger Woods, Sandra Bullock, Jim Carrey and Brooke Shields, and the resort was also visited by Hollywood legends like Marilyn Monroe and Paul Newman.
  • Surrounded by some of the most beautiful Alpine scenery in the world, Gstaad in Switzerland is a magical, romantic car-free village with a picturesque castle as its prominent feature.

    At night the Palace Hotel is lit up and the eves of every chalet in the village are illuminated by fairy lights, creating a true winter wonderland.   • The host of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Whistler - situated in the Coast Mountains of British Columbia two hours north of Vancouver - is renowned as North America's number one skiing destination and, if its celebrity clientele are anything to go by, we can see why! Justin Timberlake, Cameran Diaz, Goldie Hawn, Kurt Russell, Seal and Heidi Klum have all been spotted hitting the slopes here.

    And it isn't just skiing and snowboarding on offer. The town also boasts four golf courses, more than 200 shops, 90 restaurants and bars, hiking trails, pampering spas and 'arguably the best mountain bike park in the world'.
  • Hollywood heavyweights are fast snapping up real estate in Telluride, a Colorado village resort with a simply stunning scenic backdrop. Oprah and Tom Cruise both own homes here, enjoying the high-end boutique stores, family restaurants, spa, and apres-ski spots.

    The ski resort itself is situated in the San Juan Mountains, but the the town also offers a live music and film venue, as well as playing host to a number of festivals.
  • Sun Valley has been a celebrity haven since it opened as the first destination ski resort, attracting old-screen stars aplenty, including Judy Garland, Clark Gable, Ernest Hemingway and Marilyn Monroe.

    Nowadays, it's the ski resort du jour for A-listers like Tom Hanks, Demi Moore, Bruce Willis and Ashton Kutcher.

  • Italy's most exclusive ski resort, Cortina d'Ampezzo, has been dubbed 'the pearl of the Dolomites', for its upmarket facilities and ability to attract stars like Sting and George Clooney to its slopes. This north Italian ski spot is also known as the sight where one of the most famous James Bond stunts was filmed in For Your Eyes Only. Cool.
