Britain's best new hotel openings 2017
  • Michael Caines, one of Britain’s most celebrated chefs, is set to open luxury country retreat Lympstone Manor in Devon in spring 2017. Located on the southern edge of the village of Lympstone, between Exeter and Exmouth, the Grade II listed Georgian mansion is set within 28 acres, providing unrivalled views of the Exe Estuary. The former private home will become a 21-bedroom hotel featuring contemporary interiors that still retain a sense of place and a 60-seat fine dining restaurant. From £245 per night.
  • Inspired by its exceptional location, Another Place, set on the shores of one of England’s most beautiful lakes Ullswater, will offer dog-friendly rooms, family suites and fresh, contemporary spaces when it opens in the Lake District. Situated within 18 acres of secluded, unspoilt parkland, the hotel will connect guests with the great outdoors and encourage open-water swimming, sailing, stand-up paddleboarding and even skiing. The 20-metre indoor pool, excellent food grown in the vegetable patch and herb garden, and laidback living will be highlights of the hotel. Double rooms from £160 per night.
  • Built a century ago in the heart of London, Ten Trinity Square features a tower and a grand Portland Stone rotunda. This year, the opulence of the outside will be matched by the collection of spaces being meticulously restored and upgraded within. The Grade II-listed building, located next to the Tower of London, will include the Residences, a Four Seasons Hotel and Spa, and the Club. The Residences will consist of 41 spacious and elegant apartments; the Four Seasons Hotel will have restaurants, bars, a spa and 100 bedrooms; while the Club is being crafted from the original sumptuous boardrooms and executive offices, restoring its original features. Rates start from £400 per night.
  • Set within 100 acres of Bruntwood Park and housed in a restored Victorian mansion, Oddfellows On The Park will offer 22 individually designed bedrooms, the Galloping Major restaurant housed in the original ballroom, as well as the Stud Room Bar, Parlor Bar, Parlor Rooms and the terrace. The hotel will bring stylish, tongue-in-cheek design to the rural location and feature the unique Pigsty, a salon de beauté complete with mud room where guests can slap detoxifying mud on each other and catch up for a gossip over a manicure.   • Set in the heart of Soho on Frith Street, Mimi's Soho is distinctly different from the current local offering with guest rooms that range from a mixture of ornate windowless rooms to traditional suites and a real focus on intelligent design, high-end finishes and a new definition to compact living. The design details are daring with flourishes that capture the soul of Soho’s bohemian heritage – think reclaimed oak flooring, bespoke furniture and marble bathrooms. The hotel is set across six floors and features the intimate Henson’s Bar & Social on the ground floor. From £150 per night.
  • When the CBeebies Land Hotel opens at the Alton Towers Resort it will offer a fully immersive CBeebies experience for young fans and their families, featuring interactive games and play items in each themed room uniquely designed to give little ones a sleepover like no other. The hotel will offer more than 12 hours each day of live entertainment inside the hotel and CBeebies Land outside, with its fun-packed themed rides and attractions. There'll be meet and greets with characters such as Postman Pat and Bing, a CBeebies disco and stargazing before bed. From £200 per night for a family of four.

  • The former Harland & Wolff Headquarters building and Drawing Offices in Belfast’s Titanic Quarter will include a new boutique hotel and public heritage space this year. The four-storey, 120-bedroom Titanic Belfast Hotel will be the world’s most authentic Titanic-themed hotel. A unique dining room will offer views towards the historic slipways where Titanic and her sister-ships Olympic and Britannic were constructed, while a champagne and cocktail bar will be housed in another of the iconic Drawing Offices, where towering cathedral ceilings fill the space with an expanse of natural light. From £219 per night.
  • Hilton Garden Inn's new hotel will be situated within the grounds of Lancashire County Cricket Club. Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford will offer 150 rooms and three eating and drinking venues for guests to enjoy, before watching the cricket or heading into the town. There will be five floors with 85 rooms overlooking the world-famous cricket pitch and some rooms which can be converted to hospitality boxes on match days. The hotel will also house a 24-hour fitness centre. From £129 per night.
  • Set in the iconic former Midland Bank building, The Ned was designed by Sir Edwin 'Ned' Lutyens in 1924. The heritage building will open in early 2017, hosting nine restaurants, 252 bedrooms channelling 1920s and 1930s design, a range of men’s and women’s grooming services (Cowshed, Cheeky and Neville) and Ned’s Club, where members have access to a rooftop pool, gym, spa, hammam and late-night lounge bar. The eight public restaurants will serve food that spans the globe, from Britain to Northern Italy, North America to Asia, and includes a Cecconi’s City of London, sister restaurant to the Cecconi’s in Mayfair, Berlin, Istanbul, Miami Beach and West Hollywood. Rooms from £250 per night.
  • Budget design hotel chain Motel One is set to open its second property in Manchester this year. Situated in the city centre in an excellent location opposite Manchester’s Royal Exchange and City Hall, Motel One Manchester-Royal Exchange will be housed inside a recently renovated building on Cross Street, featuring 298 ensuite bedrooms, a 24-hour reception, a striking One Lounge and bar. From £69 a night.
