Police launch probe after boy, 16, stabbed to death in Croydon

Police are investigating the death of a 16-year-old boy, who died from stab injuries in south London this morning.

The incident took place on Bracken Avenue on the Shrublands Estate in Croydon shortly after midnight, the Metropolitan Police said.

Officers were called to the estate at 12.46am following reports of a disturbance inside a home and found the teenager inside suffering from stab injuries.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.34am, price said.

The force said in a statement: "Police were called at 00:46hrs on Thursday, 1 July to reports of a disturbance at a residential address on Bracken Avenue in Shrublands, Croydon.

"Officers attended and found a 16-year-old male inside suffering from stab injuries.

“They provided first aid prior to the arrival of the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance.

"Despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene at 01:34hrs. Next of kin have been informed.

"Formal identification has not taken place. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.”

Homicide detectives from the Specialist Crime Command have been informed but no arrests have been made so far, the force added.
