Pictured: Capsized yacht washes up on East Sussex beach
A yacht washed up on the southern coast of England on Thursday night spilling its contents over the beach.
Photographs of the capsized vessel show it stuck on rocks near the shore of Seaford Head, East Sussex.
Waves can be seen battering the black and white hull as the debris spreads.
The yacht’s contents, including wooden panels and a large red inflatable, are pictured scattered over the shore.
HM Coastguard rescue teams were sent from Birling Gap and Newhaven following reports of an incident at around 5.20am on Friday.
Two people on board were rescued and brought to safety, according to a Coastguard spokesman.
In October last year a man died following an incident onboard a boat off the Sussex coast.
Officers were alerted to a mayday from a vessel, thought to be a fishing boat, at around 1.40am on Oct 7.
The vessel was brought into Shoreham where it was met by Sussex Police and the Marine Accident Investigation Branch. The circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear.
Sussex Police and Border Force were contacted for comment.
