Neighbours to resolve new Harold Bishop mystery

Neighbours spoilers follow.

Neighbours legend Harold Bishop finally explains his strange behaviour next week after being confronted by Karl Kennedy.

The fan favourite has been avoiding Karl for several days, preventing the doctor from arranging a healthcare catch-up with him.

Harold recently moved into the Eirini Rising retirement complex, where Karl now works as the residents' dedicated GP.

Next week, Karl realises that Harold is still stalling when it comes to booking his health check.

When Karl pops round to Harold's room to sort things out, he's shocked as Harold reveals that he has hired Remi Varga-Murphy as his GP instead.

Karl is visibly hurt by the news and confides in wife Susan, expressing his concern that Harold no longer trusts him after last year's memory loss issues.

Last October, Karl speculated that Harold could have dementia when he began struggling with his memory.

Remi later hit upon the real explanation – Harold had been mixing his medications, creating unintended side effects. At the time, Karl was embarrassed to have missed this as a possible reason, although Harold hadn't told him about the change in medication.

Karl assures Harold there are no hard feelings, and Harold explains that he still trusts Karl's abilities as a doctor, but doesn't want the burden of his healthcare to be placed on such a dear friend.

With the air cleared and Karl happy that he's not being punished for his past mistake, can he repair his friendship with Harold?

Ian Smith recently reprised his role as Harold on a semi-regular basis. He'll be filming for one day a week in his role as a resident at Eirini Rising.

Ian told Digital Spy last month: "It's back on a 'bits and bobs' basis. I'm not sure whether they asked me to come back full-time or not, but if they had, I would have said no because I am retired.

"But I'm back for one day a week and, gee-whizz, it's a luxury to have that one day a week. How many older actors get that luxury? It's wonderful to keep busy."

Neighbours airs these scenes on Monday, June 10.

Neighbours releases new episodes from Mondays to Thursdays for free on Amazon Freevee in the UK and US. In Australia, the show airs from Mondays to Thursdays at 4pm on Channel 10, with a 6.30pm repeat screening on 10 Peach.
