Mum of seven 'admits to murdering three kids with help from son'

A mum has allegedly admitted to killing three of her seven children and claims her 16-year-old son helped commit the crime, authorities said.

Mum of seven Angela Flores, 38, from Los Angeles in the US, was arrested on three counts of murder for allegedly killing two of her sons, aged 8 and 10, as well as her 12-year-old daughter.

Officers reportedly found the three children unresponsive inside their home on Sunday, but it's believed the victims had been dead for several hours, according to CBS News.

Police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at about 7.40 am (local time). Although the exact cause of death has not been released, New York Post reports.

LAPD said Flores confessed to killing her children with the assistance of her 16-year-old son. The teenage boy was arrested on one count of murder and was being held at the Sylmar Juvenile Hall, CBS News reported, citing police.

Mum spotted 'acting erratically'

The night before the bodies were found, the mum had been "acting erratically" neighbours told local news outlets.

She was reportedly heard screaming, praying and lighting candles at other homes in the neighbourhood.

"I heard someone screaming, ‘My family is abusing me,’ and all kinds of nonsense. I couldn’t make out what it was," a neighbour told CBSLA. "I guess at that time she was in our neighbour’s yard … burning a candle and she had the Bible out."

Witness claim Flores was carried out of her home on a stretcher, but she "kept popping up, jumping up saying, ‘Where’s my Bible? Where’s my Bible?'"

Flores was taken to the hospital for mental health reasons, CBS reported.

LA County District Attorney George Gascon described the children's deaths as "truly horrific and tragic".

"As a parent and a grandparent, I send my heartfelt condolences to the people who love them," he reportedly said in a statement.

"We will continue to work with Los Angeles police detectives and my prosecutors will make a filing decision once they have reviewed all of the evidence," he added, Fox News reported.
