The man who planned the Hatton Garden heist has died aged 84.

Brian Reader made more than £200 million from high-profile raids across Britain and was also involved in the Brink’s-Mat robbery in 1983.

Seven burglars stole £25 million from a safety deposit vault in the Hatton Garden area of London, which is known for its upmarket jewellery shops, in April 2015.

It has been described as the biggest burglary in British legal history.

Reader was chosen to orchestrate the raid and he became known as the “Guv’nor”.

A death certificate seen by The Sun that lists his profession as a retired gardener, reveals he passed away in September 2023 at his home in Dartford, Kent after succumbing to colon and prostate cancer.
