London travel news LIVE: Major disruption to Waterloo trains with services affected until end of day
One of the UK's busiest railway lines is blocked after a train hit an object on the track.
South Western Railway is unable to run any services between Woking and London Waterloo.
This affects trains serving Guildford and/or Basingstoke as well, leaving many of them cancelled, delayed or revised until the end of the day
Network Rail said: "At around 5.50am this morning, a South Western Railway train travelling towards London Waterloo struck an object in the Walton-on-Thames area.
"No-one was injured and all passengers were safely escorted from the train; however, the lines through the area are currently blocked while we investigate.
"Early investigations show the front wheels of the train are derailed, therefore it's likely to take us some time to get the railway reopened.
"We're really sorry for the disruption and will update customers on the repairs and timescale for reopening as we know more."

Due to the issue between Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge all lines are blocked.

A South Western Railway train struck an object in the Walton-on-Thames area around 5.50am today, causing its front wheels to come off the rails.
“No one was injured and all customers were safely escorted from the train,” said National Rail.”
The incident, and extent of damage to the tracks, are now being investigated.
All four tracks between Surbiton and Woking are closed until further notice, affecting all trains due to run through Woking Station, such as services between London Waterloo and Exeter St Davids, Portsmouth Harbour and Weymouth.
National Rail says: “Please do not attempt to travel on services that run through Woking today.”
Change to Piccadilly Line delays

Delays between London Kings Cross and Stevenage

A safety inspection of the track between London Kings Cross and Stevenage left some lines blocked earlier today.
The lines have now reopened but disruption is still expected until around 11.45am.

Changes to Piccadilly Line delays

We told you earlier about how there were severe delays on the Piccadilly Line between Cockfosters and Acton Town while TfL fixed a signal failure at Caledonian Road.
There were also minor delays on a part of the line which affected travellers trying to get to Hethrow.
This is no longer the case with TfL reporting minor delays across the line in general - still because of a signal failure at Caledonian Road.

About 40% of journeys on London public transport network to cost more despite Sadiq fares freeze

Around 40 per cent of journeys on London’s public transport network will be more expensive due to the limited impact of Mayor Sadiq Khan’s “fares freeze”, it can be revealed.
It means that Transport for London’s income from fares will increase by up to £75m over the next 12 months, if travel returns to pre-pandemic levels – the bulk from more expensive Tube journeys.
Mr Khan’s partial fares freeze – which leaves the cost of pay-as-you-go journeys on the Tube, London buses, the London Overground, Elizabeth line, DLR and Croydon tram unchanged until March next year – came into effect on Sunday.
But because the “cap” on the cost of multiple pay-as-you-go journeys has increased, alongside a 4.9 per cent average increase in Travelcards, many passengers will end up paying more.

Two lanes closed after three-vehicle crash on M4

Two of five lanes are currently closed on the M4, after an accident look place eastbound between J5 A4 London Road (Langley) and J4B M25 J15.
Traffic was temporarily held for 20 minutes and is now queuing, according to traffic monitoring site Inrix, which said there has been a “high impact”.
Disruption to London Overground to/from Stratford

This is because of a fault with the signalling system whcih has affected routes between Clapham Junction/Richmond and Stratford.

South Western Railway trains between Wimbledon and Woking are being affected by a safety inspection of the track between Walton-on-Thames and Weybridge, which has blocked some lines.
