Lava fountain shoots from Sicily's Mount Etna

Fountains of red lava shot into the sky in Sicily overnight as Mount Etna continued to erupt.

This footage, recorded in Zafferana Etnea, about five km south east of Mount Etna, shows the volcano putting on a mesmerising yet deadly show as streams of molten lava shoot into the air.

Mount Etna has been active since mid-February, regularly sending tall plumes of smoke and ash high into the sky.
