Jill Biden, Carrie Johnson and baby Wilfred pictured playing on beach during G7 summit
First Lady Jill Biden and Carrie Johnson have been pictured enjoying a walk on the beach and dipping their feet in the sea with baby Wilfred ahead of the prime minister’s first meeting of the G7.
Jill and Carrie were seen talking and laughing on the Cornish beach.
At a press conference Boris Johnson said he would not disagree with Joe Biden on his suggestion they both “married way above our stations” after the two couples went for a stroll outside Carbis Bay Hotel in Carbis Bay.
The two leaders and their wives admired the view near the luxury Carbis Bay hotel, with Biden saying: “It’s gorgeous.
“I don’t want to go home.”
Newlyweds Boris and Carrie walked hand in hand for their first major engagement as a married couple on Thursday, almost two weeks on from their low-key wedding ceremony at Westminster Cathedral.
The First Lady’s wore a blazer with the word "love" on the back in studs.
When asked about the jacket by a Bloomberg reporter she responded with: "Well, I think that we're bringing love from America."
After having tea with Carrie on Thursday afternoon, Jill told reporters: “It’s really nice to be here in Cornwall. It’s my first time. Obviously, it’s beautiful for those of you who have been here before.”
She said that she and her husband were looking forward to meeting the Queen as part of their visit, and that the couple hoped to focus on education in their discussions with the royals.
"We’ve looked forward to this for weeks and now it’s finally here. It’s a beautiful beginning,” she added.
As the two men were sitting next to each other in Carbis Bay Hotel, where the G7 summit will be hosted, Joe said: “I told the prime minister we have something in common. We both married way above our stations.”
Boris responded: “I’m not going to dissent on that one. I’m not going to disagree with you there or indeed on anything else, I think highly likely.”
It came ahead of a potentially tricky meeting between the two leaders, with Joe expected to use the meeting to warn Boris not to let the row over Northern Ireland’s Brexit arrangements put the Good Friday Agreement at risk.
It will be the first in-person meeting of the two leaders who have both had different opinions about topics like Brexit in the past but are also aligned on their stance on climate change and helping the world recover from the pandemic.
