Girl, 18, killed and three teenagers seriously injured after car crashes into wall

An 18-year-old woman has been killed and three other teenagers serious injured after a car crashed into a wall in County Durham.

The silver Ford Fiesta collided with the wall on Potterhouse Lane in Pity Me at 6.20pm on Saturday evening, Durham Police said.

The 18-year-old girl, who was in a rear passenger seat in the car was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, police said.

Meanwhile, the driver - an 18-year-old boy - and two passengers - an 18-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl - were all taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Durham Police are appealing to witnesses who were in the area at the time or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle prior to the collision.

The force said in a statement: "Police are appealing for witnesses to a collision in which a teenager tragically died.

"At 6.20pm yesterday (August 28), a silver Ford Fiesta collided with a wall on Potterhouse Lane, in Pity Me, Durham.

"Police are keen to speak to any witnesses who were in the area at the time, or anyone who may have any dashcam footage of the vehicle prior to the collision."
