Georgia football vs. UAB: Live updates for Bulldogs vs. Blazers

Georgia football gets a full-fledged night game Saturday in Sanford Stadium against UAB.

The No. 1 Bulldogs will have their latest home kickoff of 7:30 p.m. since playing Mississippi State on Nov. 21, 2020.

“That does not happen very often so I know our fans will be electric and it will be a great atmosphere,” Bulldogs coach Kirby Smart said.

UAB first-year coach Trent Dilfer has been to one SEC game—Ole Miss-Alabama--when his daughter was being recruited.

“An SEC football game at night is way better than a Super Bowl,” said the former Baltimore Ravens quarterback .”I’m personally really excited about going to get an SEC game at night.”

Georgia beat UAB 56-7 in 2021 when Stetson Bennett went 10 of 12 for 288 yards and 5 touchdowns including two to Brock Bowers.

The 3-0 Bulldogs are a 40 1/2-point favorite.

Georgia remains strong, defeating UAB 49-21. Auburn is on deck next Saturday.

Jacob Zeno rushed for a 3-yard touchdown to inch the Blazers closer to the Bulldogs. Georgia still leads 49-21 with 6:08 left in the game.

Senior Sevaughn Clark rushed up the middle for a 7-yard touchdown to cap an eight-play, 75-yard drive after Brock Vandagriff managed to rush 18 yards for the first down.

Georgia football's Brock Bowers runs in a third TD | 9:59 p.m.

Carson Beck once again finds Brock Bowers for a touchdown. Georgia leads 42-14, 5:38 left in the third quarter.

Georgia football adds another touchdown | 9:48 p.m.

Carson Beck rushed into the end zone to add another score to Georgia's tally. The Bulldogs lead 35-14.

UAB football responds with a touchdown seconds before halftime | 9:09 p.m.

Jacob Zeno connected with Amare Thomas to score in the final 10 seconds of the half. Georgia leads 28-14.

Georgia football Daijun Edwards rushes for short touchdown | 8:59 p.m.

Senior running back Daijun Edwards rushed up the middle for a 4-yard touchdown to cap a four-play, 25-yard drive after Tykee Smith's interception. That's two Georgia touchdowns in the span of seven minutes, it leads 28-7 with 1:25 left in the half.

Georgia football finds Brock Bowers for another touchdown | 8:52 p.m.

Carson Beck hit Brock Bowers again on a 41-yard pass, who was able to turn it into a second touchdown after escaping UAB defenders. Georgia leads 21-7 with 2:40 left in the half.

Georgia football feeds Brock Bowers, gets TD | 8:31 p.m.

Carson Beck connected with Brock Bowers twice for gains of 15 and 12 before a Daijun Edwards 4-yard touchdown gave Georgia a 14-7 lead with 10 minutes left in the second quarter.

Georgia football surrenders passing touchdown | 8:18 p.m.

Georgia has given up a touchdown pass again in the red zone. This time Jacob Zeno hit tight end Bryce Damous on a 16-yard touchdown. UAB ties Georgia at 7 with 14:09 to go in the first half.

Georgia football's Mekhi Mews fumbles | 8:14 p.m.

Georgia lost its first fumble of the season when Mekhi Mews coughed up a fumble on a 9-yard punt return. UAB will begin the second quarter at the Georgia 22 after a reverse moved the ball further into Georgia territory.

Warren Brinson registered his first sack of the season as Georgia forced UAB to punt on its first possession. Safety Dan Jackson and defensive end Tramel Walthour got starts.

Georgia football gets Arian Smith touchdown catch | 7:41 p.m.

Georgia scored on its opening drive when Carson Beck hit Arian Smith for a 12-yard catch and run touchdown. Georgia leads 7-0 with 12:04 to go in the first quarter.

Georgia football missing key defender Mykel Williams | 7:09 p.m.

Didn't see defensive end Mykel Williams on the field during pregame warmups. Dawgnation reports the 6-foot-5, 265-pound sophomore is out with a concussion. Williams leads Georgia with two sacks and is tied for the team lead with 7 quarterback pressures.

Tramel Walthhour is listed as Williams' backup on the Georgia depth chart.

What Georgia football starting offensive line looks like | 6:56 p.m.

Georgia's starting offensive line in warm-ups looks like it did after Amarius Mims went down with an ankle injury last week. Xavier Truss is at right tackle and Dylan Fairchild is at left guard. Fairchild would get his first college start.

Peyton Woodring still warming up as Georgia Bulldogs top kicker | 6:37 p.m.

Freshman kicker Peyton Woodring is working with Carson Beck as his holder in pregame warmups, a sign he may have held onto the No. 1 kicking job despite his struggles. Jared Zirkel is working with Brock Vandagriff.

Hey, there's a Georgia Bulldogs black jersey sighting | 6:33 p.m.

There's a big man in a Georgia black game jersey during pregame warmups. It's former Georgia defensive lineman Julian Rochester who greeted some inside linebackers. That looks like it may be the only black jersey we see tonight despite social media speculation.

Former Georgia football staffer Eddie Gordon returns with UAB football | 5:38 p.m.

Former Georgia offensive line graduate assistant Eddie Gordon coaches the UAB offensive line after being hired this offseason so this is a return for Gordon.

"He worked hard," Smart said. "He recruited a lot of good players here. He was right alongside Sam [Pittman], right alongside Matt Luke, right alongside [Stacy] Searels. He had a personality about him. He never backed down from coaching players hard, and I respect that in a coach because he didn't try to be their friend. He coached them hard, and he recruited them hard."
