Fines issued as police shut down party at barbers

Twenty-two people were facing fines for breaking Covid restrictions after police shut down a party at a barber shop in London in the early hours of Saturday, February 20, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police said they were called to a large gathering at the barbers close to midnight on Friday, after people heard loud music from the shop and found “clear evidence of breaches of Health Protection Regulations.”

The organiser of the event faces a £10,000 Fixed Penalty Notice, police said.

Body-worn video released by police shows officers entering the premises.
