Chococo sapphire milk chocolate egg with Dorset sea salt caramel gems
£20, 250g, chococo.co.uk

This is a very good egg; really pretty, thick, good chocolate, a surprise inside – really good, salty caramels! I don’t know what I would improve.

Betty’s white chocolate spring lamb flat egg
£13.75, 130g, bettys.co.uk

Not sure how I feel about 2D eggs. Where’s the rest of it?! So creamy, but needs something to cut through it. I’m not sure about the decoration, feels a bit … granny.
★★★

Co-op Irresistible fairtrade honeycomb egg
£7, 180g, coop.co.uk
I like the marbled, ombre vibe. I like the chocolate, I like the crunch – not too much. I like salty chocolate and this has a good amount. I would like it a bit thicker, but I could work my way through this.
★★★★

Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference Belgian latte macchiato egg
£8, 230g, sainsburys.co.uk

Stylish, I love the terrazzo vibe. It’s not too sweet, a bit of salt. A lot of crunch, maybe too much. Every single bite, I’m crunching. What is that aftertaste? Coffee? No. But a nice creaminess.
★★★

Pump Street Chocolate hot cross bun chicken and eggs
£9.95, 69g, pumpstreetchocolate.com
This is very cute. Dark chocolate. There are bits in it – crunchy stuff. It has a strange bitterness. I don’t love it. Maybe the eggs are better? They are. The eggs save it.
★★★

Guinness rugby ball Easter egg
£8, 220g, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Ocado
A really nice size. It’s on the sweeter side for dark chocolate. It’s thin but it has a nice snap and nice fruitiness. The truffles … oh, that’s Guinness. The smell really comes through; quite rich.
★★★

Asda cocoa noir Easter egg
£15, 350g, Asda
Stunning; two eggs in one. And little gold truffle eggs. Their filling is so buttery; good amount of salt. The inside egg has a nutty layer, and the big egg is dark.
★★★★

Prodigy salted caramel chocolate egg
£1.59 (£9.49 for 6), 40g, Morrisons
It’s filled in the bottom half of the egg. It’s quite creamy – I wouldn’t know it’s vegan. The ganache is a bit thick, but it has a nice saltiness to balance.
★★★

Montezuma Orloff milk chocolate speckled hen
£13.99, 200g, montezumas.co.uk
This looks like it’s for kids. It’s made me laugh, it’s fun. Oh, I don’t want to bash it up. It’s quite creamy, but too sweet for me. Also, on the thin side.
★★

M&S Collection Belgian milk chocolate nutty egg
£12, 292g, Marks & Spencer
Ginormous! They said, “We’re going to do texture.” The chocolate tastes like a dark milk, nice balance. A good amount of nuts coming through. I’m not sold on the decoration, but good flavour.
★★★★

Morrison’s The Best 70% cocoa dark chocolate with pink Himalayan salt Easter egg
£5, 240g, morrisons.com
This isn’t the most interesting thing to look at. Intense. Very plain, no bad thing. I’m getting tiny, salty crunchy bits. For someone who likes simple chocolate.
★★★

Luisa’s Vegan Chocolate matcha casholate Luigi bunny
£11.50, 100g, luisasveganchocolates.co.uk
This would make a lovely gift. It tastes like an iced matcha latte. I really like that. Super creamy white chocolate. Is it oat milk? Ah, nut based, OK.
★★★★

Aldi Specially Selected Belgian triple chocolate and Valencian orange marble egg
£6.99, 240g, aldi.co.uk
Woah, smells of orange. I like orange chocolate at Christmas; it doesn’t sit well at Easter. This is way too orangey. And it’s quite sweet.

Waitrose No 1 The cracking pistachio
£14, 312g, waitrose.com

I hope it tastes as pistachio as it looks. Deeply caramelised white chocolate is balanced with salt; green chocolate is subtle. Fantastic thickness.
★★★★

La Perla di Torino pistachio and raspberry filled egg
£12.50, 100g, souschef.co.uk

One person, one sitting. So pretty. Smash it open – she’s thiiiick. Good crunch, good nuts. If you like white chocolate, this is the one.

All eggs were tasted blind, but our tester was told if they were vegan or free-from
