A van driver was left red-faced when a cannabis bumper sticker led to him failing a drug test...for cannabis.

Eagle-eyed officers spotted the driver without a seatbelt and pulled him over on the side of the M20 near Ashford, in Kent on Friday.

The driver was pulled over and they also quickly saw the drug-themed sticker on the back of his van.

The sticker read: "Gas, Grass or Ass: Nobody Rides For Free."

Officers conducted a roadside drug wipe, used to test for cannabis residue in sweat or saliva, which he failed.

A Kent Police Road Policing Unit spokesperson said: "Some really don’t help themselves!

"Van displaying this sticker was stopped on the M20 near Ashford as the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

"Unfortunately the driver also failed a road side drug wipe for cannabis... ironic!"

Residents reacted on Twitter, with one saying: "Well at least it was the marijuana wipe that was positive, going by the missing sticker you could have ended up positively wiping something else!"

Another said: "Just goes to show, you simply cannot buy class."

And another responded: "What a moron."
