Did he really just say that? Radio host stuns guest into silence
A radio talk show host's insistence that concrete can be grown on trees has left a climate activist speechless.
Insulate Britain's Cameron Ford appeared on Mike Graham's talkRADIO show to discuss the group’s recent protests, the Independent reported.
Asked what he did for a living, Mr Ford said he was a carpenter.
Mr Graham then asked how safe carpentry was for the environment and whether it was compatible with reaching climate goals.
"But you work with trees that have been cut down. How is it sustainable if you're killing trees?" Mr Graham asked.
Mr Ford replied: "Because it's regenerative, you can grow trees."
Mr Graham responded by saying that "you can grow all sorts of things, can't you?".
"Well you can't grow concrete," Mr Ford hit back - before Mr Graham insisted: "Yeah you can."
After a period of silence, Mr Graham terminated the interview.
The radio host was mocked on Twitter after talkRADIO posted a clip.

Just to make it absolutely clear, a concrete plant is a place where they produce concrete, it's not a plant that grows out of the ground. (sent on behalf of my 5 year old)

I suppose that explains all those concrete skyscrapers growing in Manhattan! Who would have thought?

Imagine being outsmarted by a man who takes time off work to glue himself to roads 😭

Unbelievable. The silence made it, but I would've liked to have heard his take on how to grow concrete.

Howling at this. Incredible.

I love the way Cameron doesn’t even respond to the ‘yes you can (grow concrete)’ remark. There’s nothing you can say to make that comment more stupid

What an embarrassing segment, great to see you getting schooled though.

What tree does concrete grow on. This is a very weird clip to self-publicise…

I taught construction for over ten years and regret all that time spent mixing sand, aggregate and cement together to make concrete when we could have just grown it.
