Destiny 2 recasts Zavala following Lance Reddick's death
Destiny has confirmed that the role of Commander Zavala has been recast following the death of Lance Reddick.
The actor passed away earlier this year, and was a major staple of the video game franchise over the past decade while playing the part across Destiny and Destiny 2.
Developer Bungie have now confirmed that Rick and Morty star Keith David will take over the role of Zavala going forwards, starting with Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape. However, Reddick's previously recorded lines for the release will remain untouched.

"The passion and professionalism Lance brought to the role over the last decade was unmistakable and loved by all," Bungie said.
"Lance’s iconic voice led us through the most intense moments in Destiny’s history and his impact on our Guardians, our community, and Bungie as a whole will never be forgotten."

David said of joining the franchise: “I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance captured the character's sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work.”
David previously worked with Bungie on the Halo franchise, the developer adding that they were "excited for what he brings to the role of the Commander".
Reddick's final appearance around the time of his death in March was in movie John Wick: Chapter 4, with the film paying tribute to the star following his passing.
Sharing his own tribute to his co-star, Keanu Reeves said at the time to Entertainment Tonight: "Lance is a very beautiful person and special artist.
"His grace and dignity, his shining light of character was just something really special. [I am] really grateful I had a chance to know him and work with him over almost 10 years."
