Corrie villain Joel Deering to find new target in sinister scenes

Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street villain Joel Deering will set his sights on a new target next week, as he continues to keep his dark secrets from fiancée Dee-Dee Bailey and the Weatherfield residents.

It was recently revealed that seemingly charming solicitor Joel was the person responsible for attacking and apparently killing Lauren Bolton, after she tried to end their controlling 'relationship'.

With Joel having also targeted vulnerable teenager Ellie, it appears that he is now seeking out someone else to exploit, while keeping his double life a secret from his loved ones.

In scenes that will air on Friday, June 21, Joel confides in Dee-Dee that he's upset about having to keep their recent engagement news a secret from his parents, after Dee-Dee's first meeting with them went badly.

Later on, Joel spots Sabrina Adetiba outside the police station. Sabrina is in distress and tells him that her brother Gav was arrested. Joel hands Sabrina his business card, telling her to give him a call if she needs anything.

As Sabrina's friend joins her, Joel heads inside – he has an ulterior motive, and feels pleased to have found himself someone new he can try to manipulate.

Could Sabrina be in danger from Joel in the future?

Calum Lill recently spoke out about the shocking truth about Joel being revealed, confirming that he had known where his character's story was heading for over a year.

Calling Joel "very messed up", he said: "When he sees these vulnerable young women probably from broken homes, with criminal records and no-one looking out for them, he is like a shark.

"He hones in on them, coercively controls them and emotionally manipulates them using his power and money."

He added that this "repetitive pattern of behaviour" is far from over, despite what happened to Lauren, saying that "we will see in the coming weeks that he is still doing it".

But with Bethany Platt now starting to have her suspicions about Joel, could his secret life be under threat?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
