Corrections and clarifications

• An article said the Women’s Equality party “gained its first ever councillor” in last week’s elections. To clarify, the party already had town and parish councillors, but its win in a borough council seat was the first in a higher-tier authority (Tories crushed by ‘worst election results’ in years, 4 May, p6 turn from p1).

• An editorial (Learning to read, 3 May, Journal, p2) misspelled the first name of the author Carol Atherton as “Carole”.
