'Confronting' details as young boy dies in Brisbane house fire

A young boy has died in a devastating house fire in Brisbane's north overnight.

Emergency services rushed to the home in Clayfield just before 4am as a fire ripped through a timber residential property.

Two adults and a young girl managed to escape the home however the boy, 6, was reported missing.

Crews later discovered the boy's body inside the home after extinguishing the blaze about one hour after arrival, the ABC reported. They were initially unable to enter the property due to the severity of the blaze.

The adults, understood to be the boy's parents, suffered minor injuries while the girl was uninjured.

Neighbours told the Courier Mail they heard "deafening screams" coming from the home alongside several explosions.

“The flames were metres and metres in the air and then we heard screaming. It was a bit confronting. Really awful," one witness told the publication.

While the fire appeared to begin in the rear of the home, it quickly engulfed the property, causing a partial roof collapse.

Crews at the scene told the ABC the fire took off when the windows failed, bringing in air and causing the fire to "enrage quite quickly".

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
