Cannabis disguised as chocolate bars found in drugs raid

Police found hundreds of homemade cannabis chocolate bars after busting a suspected drug den.

Officers discovered the concealed drugs after raids on properties across Nottingham on Friday, following several tip-offs.

In a house in Lenton, a sniffer dog started barking when it came across several boxes of what appeared to be Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate.

Officers discovered they were in fact “cannabis edibles disguised as chocolate bars”.

Police also seized around £5,000 in cash, along with mobile phones and other illegal substances.

Two men and one woman – all aged 20 – were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A and class B drugs.

In another raid in Arnold, two men aged 31 and 32 and a 24-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs and possessing criminal property.

They were later released under investigation.

Sergeant Mark Southgate, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “If you come to Nottingham to deal drugs, we will find you.

"We want to send the clear message that criminal behaviour will not be tolerated and we will continue to target offenders who persist in causing harm and misery in our communities.

"I’d like to reassure people that we take all reports drug crime very seriously as we understand the detrimental impact these types of crimes can have on the lives of residents."

Neighbourhood Inspector Chris Pearson added: "We carried out this search based on intelligence and information provided from members of the public and it has led to us discovering a quantity of suspected drugs which has now been taken out of circulation.”
