A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenager was stabbed in the face.

Police were called to reports of an assault at Castle Causeway in Sleaford, Lincolnshire just before 8.45pm on Friday night (2 July).

Lincolnshire Police said that a 16-year-old boy was taken to hospital for treatment after sustaining several wounds to his face. His injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

On Sunday the force said a 15-year-old boy had been arrested on suspicion of GBH in connection with the incident and was helping officers with their enquiries.

In a statement, it said police still want to hear from anyone with information or who was in the area at the time, or may have video footage of the incident.

Earlier the force reassured people that the stabbing was believed to be an isolated incident.

It said extra patrols would be conducted in the area to reassure residents.
