B&M (BME.L) is closing stores up and down the country and relocating others as it joins the growing trend of high street closures.

The discount store is closing its Bishop Auckland branch in Country Durham on Friday 5 May.

The retailer said on its website: "Unfortunately your B&M Bishop Auckland store at 4 Saddler Street will CLOSE on Friday 5th May 2023. We'd like to apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this closure."

The nearest B&M store is two miles away in Shildon.

"Your B&M Widnes store is moving from its current location at Bowers Retail Park to its new home at Widnes Trade Park (former The Range)," the company said
