Spectacular eruptions from Mount Etna

Mount Etna, the largest volcano in Europe, has erupted, sending spectacular plumes of ash and lava high into the air over Sicily.

Activity was first recorded at the site on Sunday evening, following a magnitude 2.7 earthquake, and before long, the mountain was throwing huge fountains of lava up to 100m in the air.
