UK police to take no action against PM's adviser Cummings: report

Updated

Police have concluded that Dominic Cummings did breach the coronavirus lockdown rules when he made a 50-mile journey to Barnard Castle, the Telegraph reports.

Boris Johnson's most senior aide claimed he made the trip on Easter Sunday, with his wife and child, to check he was fit to drive after suffering Covid-related eyesight problems.

Mr Cummings insisted he had acted "lawfully and reasonably" when he made the 260-mile journey from London to Durham to self isolate at his parents' property at the end of March.

Durham Police have now decided that, while he did breach the guidelines when he drove to Barnard Castle, it would not be taking any further action.
