Massive queue for reopening of McDonald's drive-thru

Dozens of cars are seen queuing in Sutton, Surrey after the local McDonald's reopened for drive-thru orders.

The fast-food chain confirmed it had reopened 39 restaurants across England and Ireland on May 20.

In an appeal to customers, McDonald's said: "We know demand will be high, and we are still adjusting to smaller teams and our new procedures, so please bear with us.

"We may determine it necessary to close drive-thru lanes if the demand puts the safety of our people or customers at risk.

"We are aiming to reopen all drive-thrus by early June."
