The number of coronavirus cases continues to rise dramatically in the UK.

Here is the latest information on how many confirmed cases there are currently, how quickly it has spread and how many positive tests there have been in each local authority area.

How many people in the UK have coronavirus?

As of 9am on Tuesday, the Department of Health said there were 25,150 confirmed cases in the UK.

The official death toll now stands at 1,789.

In total, 143,186 people have been tested.

How quickly has the virus spread in the UK?

On Monday last week (23 March), there were 6,650 cases. This had risen 18,500 to 25,150 by Tuesday (31 March).

On 1 March, there were 35.

The first two cases were announced on 31 January.

Deaths of people who had been infected by coronavirus rose by 393 in Tuesday's figures this week, the highest daily total yet.
