A pensioner has been arrested after allegedly killing a seagull with his walking stick in north Wales.

The 67-year-old man was detained when he returned to a pub to finish his drink after the incident on Market Street, in Rhyl, on Thursday, the Independent reported.

A witness said the gull had been 'smashed to bits' and they were forced to remove the 'disgusting' remains so children would not see them.

North Wales Police confirmed the suspect had been arrested under the Wildlife Countryside Act Protection of Birds law.
