Dramatic rescue from ship stranded in stormy seas

Twelve crew have been winched to safety by the Italian Coast Guard in a dramatic rescue off the coast of Sardinia in the Mediterranean.

The CDRY Blue was caught in strong seas and was blown onto rocks, before crew sent a distress signal and abandoned ship.

High wings and rough seas meant the helicopter crew had to battle with the ship violently rolling and pitching.

No one was reported injured
