Nature or aliens? Rock's perfect split baffles the internet

This large rock in Saudi Arabia has set the internet buzzing, because it looks like it's been split in half by a laser.

The Al Naslaa rock formation, which sits in the dessert kingdom's arid interior, may not look unusual. But if you take a closer look it has what appears to be a precision cut.

This unusually smooth 'cut' has led some UFO hunters to claim that it is the work of aliens rather than mother nature.

However, before ET fans get too excited, it's likely that the break occurred because of an existing fissure that split the rock following subterranean ground movement.

Either way, the rock continues to be a source of mystery for many.
