Diver has incredible face-to-face encounter with giant anaconda

It's like something out of a horror film, but this is the moment that one diver came face-to-face with one of the Amazon's deadliest predators.

This scuba diver happened across the seven-metre-long giant anaconda while exploring a river in Brazil. For those scared of snakes - this footage will leave your heart beating just a little faster.

Anacondas first came to the world's attention from the first European explorers - and have since become subjects of fascination for everyone from Hollywood producers too cryptozoologists.

The snakes have formed a part of local tribal folklore for hundreds of years, with stories of giant serpents lurking in the unexplored areas of the Amazon river.

While anacondas are known to take on anything from large mammals to crocodiles, accounts of humans being attacked and eaten remain largely unconfirmed.
