The Queen orders takeaway fish and chips when she is at Balmoral

When the Queen visits Balmoral Castle in Scotland she sends staff to pick up fish and chips from local chippies, according to royal insiders.

A source told The Sun: "She occasionally treats herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral.

"A footman is despatched to get it from the local town of Ballater."

The Queen's former chef Darren McGrady says she can't be described as a "foodie" unlike Prince Philip, who "loves to eat and would stand and talk food all day".

For dessert the Queen is said to be fond of a slice of Dundee cake.
