Car flips over in 90mph police chase
Mercedes driver Jamil Khan was jailed for 26 months and banned from driving for four years after this terrifying incident in Birmingham.
Khan was racing against a BMW through the city streets when his car hit another vehicle, overturned and slid down the road on its roof as the police chased behind. The incident occurred at 90mph outside City Hospital.
A drag racer flipped and crashed his car after attempting to outrun police when he was spotted illegally racing in Birmingham, England, on July 23, 2018.
Following the incident in July Khan was this week found guilty of dangerous driving and failing to allow a sample to be analysed.
Khan was racing on Hagley Road just moments before an unmarked police car identified him and set out to put a stop to the illegal behaviour. Khan took off when the police tried to speak to him, running a red light before reaching 90mph in a 30mph zone. Shortly afterwards, he collided with another vehicle, causing his Mercedes to flip and skid across the street.
Khan, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was eventually cut free from the crashed vehicle by emergency services and taken to the hospital for a head injury. His front seat passenger suffered minor injuries, as did the driver of the car that Khan had hit. According to the police, Khan smelled strongly of alcohol, but refused to allow a blood sample to be analyzed.

PC Dan Lynas, who pursued Khan, said: "This was appalling driving from Khan, who was lucky to escape from the collision that he caused with his life.
"We welcome this sentence and hope it sends a strong message to drivers who are willing to put lives at risk by driving dangerously."
