Large mob of teens rampage at Aldi store

Shocking footage shows the moment a huge mob of rioting teenagers stormed an Aldi supermarket before smashing up the aisles in front of terrified staff and customers.

The gang of youths stormed the store in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham on the 23rd July and went on the rampage, leaving two staff members injured. Mobile phone footage has now emerged of the feral crowd rushing the front entrance before some start fleeing with stolen items while others hurl bottles at security staff.

West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the disturbance at the store, which sits yards from Edgbaston cricket ground where the Ashes will be held. Witnesses said the hoards of teenagers "came out nowhere" and left the store "completely trashed" while frightened families with small children fled the scene.

One onlooker, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "It was absolute carnage. "I think there had been some sort of music event nearby and all of a sudden these youths came out of nowhere.

"Why you would target at Aldi, I just don't know, but they completely trashed the place and smashed it up.

"Some of them stole things, others were just lobbing bottles and stuff through the doors at the security guard. They were completely feral and out of control.

"There were young families in there with children and some had to run away while these thugs just caused utter havoc. It was just brainless behaviour."

A police spokesman said: "Police were called to the Aldi store on Edgbaston Road in Birmingham just after 7.30pm on Tuesday July 23 to a report of criminal damage.

"It is believed a large group of youths entered the store and caused damage to stock and furnishings as well as assaulting two members of staff, causing them minor injuries.

"The store was open for business the next day but a spokeswoman for Aldi said: "We're unable to comment on the incident as it's an ongoing police investigation.
