Man dies after hit-and-run incident in Chessington

A man has died after being “dragged under a car” in a hit-and-run incident in Chessington.

Police were called to a car in collision with a man in Moor Lane at 12.13am on Friday.

The driver did not stop and the man was “dragged under the car for some distance”, officers said.

The man, believed to be aged 25 years, was pronounced dead at the scene.

There have been no arrests, the Metropolitan Police added.

The car has not been found.

Police believe they know the man’s identity and his next of kin have been informed.

Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will be arranged in due course.

There are numerous road closures and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
