Revealed: One of Archie's godparents is Meghan's non-famous friend who turned up at Wimbledon

One of Royal baby Archie’s godparents will definitely be one of the friends who joined the Duchess of Sussex at Wimbledon, according to a royal expert.

Royal commentator Omid Scobie told Yahoo UK’s ‘The Royal Box’ that either Genevieve Hillis or Lindsay Roth is ‘certainly’ one of the godparents to Archie, who was christened in a private service on Saturday (July 6).

Scobie said while the names of the godparents have been kept private, both Meghan and Harry have included friends from their past in the list of people chosen for the role.

He said: “Meghan...had her friends Lindsay Roth and Genevieve Hillis at the christening and one of those is certainly one of the godparents.”

He said sources had told him one of the pair, who were spotted with Meghan on her surprise visit to Wimbledon to watch Serena Williams play, was definitely a godparent.

Describing the Duchess of Sussex’s relationship with Roth and Hillis, he said the trio were sorority sisters at Northwestern University and had undertaken many activities together, including fundraising like sponsored danceathons for charity.

“They definitely were part of a really tight-knit grop and have stayed tight-knit throughout the whole time,” he said.

“We don’t hear as much about Genevieve and Lindsey as some of Meghan’s more high-profile friends but I think they are two women that look to stay more behind the scenes.

“It could be both - Meghan and Genevieve are very close and I believe that Genevieve has really been by Meghan’s side for a lot of the tough times that she has faced over the last year and a half.

“Lindsey herself is a mum, she is bicoastal, she is in the UK. So they are both perfectly suitable for the godparent role.”
