‘Business bun’ is Serena Williams’ secret weapon in quarter final match

Serena Williams has revealed her secret weapon – “the business bun”.

During her Wimbledon quarter final match against Alison Riske, Williams ditched her trademark ponytail and pulled her hair back.

“Today (my hair) was just in my way, and the wind – I was missing a shot because it’s in my face,” she said.

“I was like, this is not happening. I just needed to get it out of the way, put the business bun up and just get to business.”

Her husband, internet entrepreneur Alex Ohanian, tweeted: “#MamaStrength. What an amazing match between two women who went all out today. But the #BusinessBun means business.”

Ms Williams’ baby daughter also made a surprise appearance at her mother’s post-match press conference.

Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr, 22 months, had to be distracted with a yellow butterfly book while her mother answered questions from reporters.

Sir Andy Murray, who is partnering Ms Williams in the doubles, said recently they have both been making good use of the club’s creche.

The 23-time grand slam winner joked that her daughter and Andy Murray’s youngest girl “would make a dynamic doubles team”.

She added: “The creche has been really cool for the players. I for one never thought I would use it.

“It’s so amazing when you become a parent how life changes and how many different things you think about.”
