What the papers say – July 7

Pictures of baby Archie after his christening make headlines in the Sunday papers, alongside developments across the political spectrum.

The Sunday Times carries a picture of the Duchess of Sussex with her newborn, alongside a story suggesting that Diane Abbott and John McDonnell have “turned” on Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.

The Sunday Telegraph endorses Boris Johnson for Conservative leader and, ultimately, Prime Minister, and carries an interview with him in which he says he is “not bluffing” on overseeing a no-deal Brexit.

The Observer reports that a trial programme from the Home Office could see data from homelessness charities used to identify non-UK rough sleepers which could result in their deportation.

The Independent carries a poll on Brexit, suggesting that Britons would prefer Brexit to be scrapped or a second vote held rather than a no-deal exit delivered on October 31.

The Sunday Mirror features a black and white photo of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, saying the Duke paid tribute to Diana by inviting her sisters to the christening ceremony.

The Sunday People carries the same picture alongside a story alleging Katie Price’s son Harvey was “abused” by three police officers.

The Mail on Sunday leads with reported comments from the British ambassador to the United States saying that president Donald Trump is “inept”.

The Sunday Express suggests that Britain will “boom” should Mr Johnson be elected Conservative leader.

And the Daily Star on Sunday suggests Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe is close to death.
